Based on an examination of Macbeth and Liaisons dangereuses, the Machiavellian couple is studied following a narrative, thematic, and symbolic approach-as a narrative machine, a representation of evil, and, ultimately, a cultural object that reflects a certain vision of couples, love, and evil in the Western imaginary.
