Description - One (1), rare form - this is an antique, primitive, BOX — a former fiddle or violin case, American, possibly Pennsylvania German made, circa mid 1800s.
- CASE ONLY - no violin included
- Box is solid wood, likely pine, with heavily patina to its original, grain or faux bois (decorative paint finish made to resemble a fine wood, like pecan wood); rabbet corner joints; chamfered, single board bottom.
- Original hardware: Brass half-lift, fold-down handle. Steel screws. Brass over steel hinges. Non-ferrous metal eye hooks / latches.
- Original nailed violin case support, inside the lid - it is hand-carved wood.
- Bare wood interior
- Old key present. Lock DOESN'T WORK - this may be because the key isn’t original.
- Found inside - a bunch of wood pieces, as shown.
- No maker’s markings.
- Weighs 5.5 pounds on my scale, before packing
- SIZE - 30” x 9” wide x 5” tall not inc handle.
