These, easy to fit black, plastic toggles provide a ‘T-bar’ style end termination for 8mm diameter elastic shock cord which is ideal for securing tarpaulins and fabrics fitted with eyelets. These fittings are ideal for banners, marquees, tents and gazebos. When fitted, the cord end with the toggle may be passed through an eyelet of 15mm internal diameter or greater. Once through, a slot in the toggle side allows it to be rotated at right angles to the cord giving a secure hold on the sheet material.

To fit, the cord end is passed lengthwise through the body of the toggle, which has a tapered internal bore. When it emerges from the toggle body a clip fitted around the cord end prevents it from being pulled back through the tapered bore in service. The clip and cord end are concealed within the toggle body when the cord is tensioned. Different types of clip may be used. For relatively light-duty applications (pull-out force up to about 150N) we recommend one of our small (2.5mm, for 5-8mm cord) cord ties as a clip. Fully tighten the tie around the cord end, trim closely, and pull back into the toggle body for a neat finish. For a more permanent fix, metal 'hog-rings', fitted using suitable pliers, may be used for the same purpose.

To make a “toggle and hook” fitting, terminate the other end of the cord with one of our plastic or steel hooks (see our ebay shop). These can then be used to secure a banner, tarpaulin or tent direct to a fixed point. Alternatively, the cord can be looped around a bar, frame or scaffold and hooked back to itself. These “toggle-and-hook fittings” are quickly and easily self-assembled allowing the user to select the exact length of cord required for any application. They can also be dismantled and the components re-used.

These toggles can be used with our 5mm diameter shock cord to form a “toggle and loop” fitting. A loop is made up from 5mm cord, the two ends passed through the toggle together (as for a single strand of 8mm cord) and either knotted or tied using one of our plastic cord ties. The loop of 5mm cord is then pulled back at right angles through the slot in the toggle, drawing the knot into the toggle body and forming a neat fitting ideal for securing fabric within a frame.
