- Kawase Hasui (1883 - 1957) was an ukiyo-e artist and printmaker during the Taisho and Showa periods.
- His real name is Bunjiro Kawase.
- Together with Hiroshi Yoshida and others, he established Shinhanga, a new type of Ukiyo-e print.
- A leading expert on modern landscape prints, he traveled throughout Japan and published many prints based on sketches he sketched during his travels.
- He is known as a ``traveling poet,'' ``traveling printmaker,'' and ``Showa's Hiroshige'' for his lyrical depictions of beautiful Japanese landscapes.
- It became widely known in Europe and America after being introduced by American connoisseur Robert Mueller, and is more highly regarded overseas than in Japan.
