At the time of the original listing, we are in the process of listing a large number of antique and vintage items purchased in England. These items are an eclectic mix including gold and sterling jewelry, and many unique, and in some cases, one of a kind items, in wood, brass, and iron, and other materials as well.
Among the items referenced above are a number of items of wooden ware / treens including Mauchline ware items. We are have a number of related items remaining from our previous trips to England.
The solid copper case of this wonderful little old sewing kit is 2 1/2" long. It contains a copper or brass bobbin with the remnants of two different colors of threads, and a celluloid thimble. As found, there were no needles, but there is enough room on the sides of the case to accommodate several needles.
The thimble exhibits a beautiful, translucent color when a light is shown through it as seen. I was not able to obtain any provenance as to the age or origin of the etui, but it would be a great addition to any sewing collection.
Condition: The copper case has a variable patina of age as seen. The bottom of the case, has a slightly dimpled center, such that it can stand on end as well as lying down, but it does not remain standing in a completely stable manner. This appears to me to be an artifact of the original creation of the piece.
