There are 3 items on this listing: 1. A vintage Tirard hat, 2. a vintage hat box 3. and an advertisement for a Tirard Fedora dated 1930. Tirard is a French brand which closed in 1956, so these hats are increasingly hard to find. Castoria, or beaver, is also very rare. This is a quality fedora with a wide brim, dating to the 1940s I believe. The felt is thick but supple and curls easily. The ribbon is a slightly darker colour. This hat is unlined with a PAM, Paris patch on the crown . The 1 7/8” or 4.5cm sweatband is chestnut brown thick quality leather-type, and embossed upon it are Impermeable (waterproof) , and ragondia (nutria)
The under sweatband labels show the size 60 and Tirard No fabrication K5B6G and Anthracite The advertisement comes from a French glossy magazine dated 31 May 1930, for a Tirard . The hat box still has its liner . Most of the items that I list will be vintage or used, so may show signs of their previous history, which is the whole charm of these pre-loved items. If you are looking for a pristine, unused item, then my finds are probably not for you. I do my best to describe their condition accurately. Generally I find that these items have been cherished possessions at a time when people did not live in such a throwaway society, so they made things to last, and took care of them.
