Vintage French MORRETON Fedora Hat + Box + Original Advert 1949

Morreton is a French brand which closed in 1976, so these hats are increasingly hard to find. Especially rare is one in a Morreton hat box, and such a large size.
This is a quality fedora with a narrow bound brim. The felt is thick but supple and curls easily. The wide ribbon is in the same dark grey colour.
I believe the style of the felt is called Mixo which gives a lovely appearance with flecks, rather than a flat colour. This hat is softline and impermeable, or waterproof.
This hat is unlined with a patch on the crown . The 1 1/2” or 4cm sweatband is dark brown leather-type, and embossed upon it is the shop stamp. The shop is Chapellerie Marcel, Rue Patoux, Aniche.
The under sweatband labels show the size 59 and No 70/I28.I.JG and the colour C.359
The Morreton advertisement comes from a French glossy magazine dated 1949.
The Morreton hat box is decorated with images of hat making, and a date of 1963. It has the original label on the side.
