Adventures of Taffy the Dinosaur and Other Stories is a collection of short stories by Maya Osae-Brown with contributions from her two friends, written in Grade 3 at Broughton Primary School in Edinburgh. These stories are a reflection of how these under-10s view the world. They are full of adventure, excitement and fairy tales, from the story of how Taffy the shy dinosaur escapes from hungry dinosaurs by hiding behind a volcano, to the adventurous story of Phillip, who takes a blue topaz from a mysterious cave and ends up having bats visit his house. Each story has a moral to tell in an exciting way, and kids will enjoy exploring the world through the eyes of another kid.
These stories were inspired by different class activities under the supervision of Miss McCrimmon, the P3 teacher at Broughton Primary School, Edinburgh. Although they have been edited, they largely reflect the imaginations of the writers. While Maya Osae-Brown did most of the writing, Carly Law did the class illustrations and Oscar Ni contributed ideas to the stories. Maya Osae-Brown is an eight-year-old P4 pupil at Broughton Primary School. She wrote these stories while in P3. She is Nigerian and enjoys playing the piano and drawing.
