Portuguese seamen visited often here in New England, and many settled along the coast. Portuguese farmers and tradesmen settled here and built a new life. They even built churches and schools. There is a strong fishing industry settled by those seafaring men. There is a vibrant Portuguese presence here. And when they settled, they also brought some of their coinage. Many of my coins were found here in New England.
