An original Civil War Rebel Soldier letter from Samuel Wilson, at "Camp Alice Near Petersburg", Dec 27, 1862 to his sister Mary- he has received her letter of 3 days earlier, is well and grateful she and E.D. are also well, , advises her to cut out the woods along the swamp to make a turnip patch in the Spring, . His comrade Dock Osborn has gone home, please send me some butter back with him, ,pay for it with my money that you have on hand , we are well fixed here, I have written letters to Cately, Liz and Frank.
