This product is a tuner-equipped model of the cassette tape Walkman WM-EX1, which was released in 1994 as the 15th anniversary model. The WM-EX1 is capable of automatically storing up to 8 FM/AM/TV stations at the push of a button. The tuner uses nonvolatile memory, eliminating the need for button batteries for station memory, which were previously required. The top-loading one-push ejection system, adopted for the first time in the industry with the WM-EX1, is a feature that was also inherited by subsequent MD Walkman models. The catchphrase for this product was "15 Convenient and High Performance" to commemorate its 15th anniversary.
