VNBP – (Viet Nam Backing Paper) - VNBP - Vietnam War, in-country made - Tailor, period Vietnamese backing paper to rear. VNBP relates to the backing paper used by Vietnam War, in-country tailors making patches for US Military Units.

Used across a variety or patches it almost always represents the highest quality tailor made patches.

Varying languages were used, Vietnamese, English and French. VNBP patches are among the rarest and most collectable of patches.

Monkey Mountain, also known as Nui Son Tra, is a mountain located near Da Nang in central Vietnam. During the Vietnam War, the mountain was home to a significant military installation known as the Monkey Mountain Facility or simply FOB 4 (Forward Operating Base 4).

FOB 4 was a key communications and surveillance facility operated by the United States Army Security Agency (ASA) and later by the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). The base housed a radar site, a signals intelligence (SIGINT) collection site, and other communications facilities.

The strategic location of Monkey Mountain provided a vantage point overlooking the South China Sea, making it ideal for monitoring enemy activity and supporting military operations in the region. The base played a crucial role in providing intelligence support during the Vietnam War, including monitoring North Vietnamese military communications and providing early warning of enemy attacks.

The personnel stationed at FOB 4 faced numerous challenges, including the rugged terrain, harsh weather conditions, and the constant threat of enemy attacks. Despite these challenges, the base remained operational throughout much of the war, contributing valuable intelligence to the US military effort in Vietnam.
