ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA (ELO) - TIME - Vinyl record - HHR00694 VG

This album is by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) the English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970. ELO was formed out of Jeff Lynne's and Roy Wood's desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical overtones. It derived as an offshoot of Wood's previous band, the Move, of which Lynne was also a member. During the 1970s and 1980s, ELO released a string of top 10 albums and singles. During ELO's original 13-year period of active recording and touring, they sold over 50 million records worldwide. From 1972 to 1986 ELO accumulated 27 Top 40 songs in the UK, and fifteen Top 20 songs in the US. The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits (20) without a number one.

Time is their ninth studio album (on which they were credited as ELO), released in July 1981 on Jet Records. It is a concept album about a man from the 1980s who is taken to the year 2095, where he is confronted by the dichotomy between technological advancement and a longing for past romance. The record topped the UK Album Charts for two weeks, though it attracted mixed reviews for its heavy use of synthesizers and stylistic shift away from previous ELO albums. It has since gained a cult following.
