1960s Daiya Japan Tin Battery Operated Large Blue Astronaut Robot – VERY RARE.

Large 14” lithographed tin battery-operated astronaut which was made in Japan by Daiya in 1966.

This is the blue version which has slightly different litho detailing to the red version and does not carry the Cragstan logo.

In action, he advances with walking motion then suddenly he stops, raises his BIG gun, and starts to fire it at will with a loud sound and lighted end. He then lowers his gun and moves on to his next target!

After testing the robot with batteries, he does exactly as described above and is in FULLY WORKING condition.

The overall condition of this robot is excellent for its age, showing minimal signs of play wear and a few scratches/marks. The battery compartment is in very good, clean condition. Please note that the plastic head dome is a professionally made replacement made from the mould of the original dome and the spring coil covering is missing from the white wire on back right shoulder area, but this does not take away from the sheer quality of this item.

Approx. 35cm tall.

Requires 2 x D cell batteries (not included). IMPORTANT: DUE TO THE INCREASED WEIGHT AND SIZE OF MODERN-DAY ALKALINE D CELL BATTERIES, THESE VINTAGE ROBOTS WORK BEST WITH PLASTIC BATTERY CONVERTERS (WITH AA BATTERIES) OR A COMBINATION OF ONE OF EACH.

Please do take a close look at the photos provided for condition, quality and detail as these help form part of the description.
