Large quarto; 849p, 4 plates which are spotted. Bound without final advert leaf. Very fine binding of full straight-grained green morocco, gilt ruled paneling with cornerpieces to boards, spine with flat raised bands and rich gilt decoration. Corners and spine ends a trifle worn, rebacked with the original spine laid down. Upper joint slightly cracked and tender. The Earl of Derby's copy, with his crest to the upper board, from the magnificent library at Knowsley which was sold by Christies in 1954. Liverpool University special collections contains around 5,000 items from the library, bought by them at the auction.
