This album is by the British pop
duo, Eurythmics. They were formed in 1980, consisting of Scottish vocalist
Annie Lennox and English musician and producer Dave Stewart. They were both
previously in The Tourists, a band that broke up in 1980. They went on to
release a string of hit singles and albums, before splitting in 1990. Stewart
became a sought-after record producer, while Lennox began a solo recording
career in 1992. After almost a decade apart, Eurythmics reunited to record
their ninth album, Peace, released 1999. Eurythmics have sold an estimated 75
million records worldwide.
Touch is
their third studio album, released on 14 November 1983 by RCA
Records. It became the duo's first number-one album in the UK, and also peaked
at number seven in the US. It has since been certified Platinum in both the
United Kingdom and the United States. The album spawned the singles Who’s That
Girl?, Right By Your Side and Here Comes the Rain Again, all of which reached
the top 10 in the UK. Touch was recorded and mixed in about three weeks at
Eurythmics' own London studio facility, The Church.
