Simply amazing. I couldn't have been more pleased to find this set of French , 18th century ( c1750 or before ) winter bed hangings from France. One of the very very best finds of my last buying trip to France. Even the 18th century metal rings for hanging are intact. This remarkable set were used in the winter to keep extra heat in the bed chamber. These textiles are very heavyweight. they were handmade using a hemp and cotton blend , hand woven fabric. A thin trim of finely woven silk was added to finish the edges on these textiles. I will be so happy for the person that gets to call them their own. I've never found another in all 25 years of sourcing. The tone is a warm natural tone, with a hint of yellow~ The surface is a soft, nubby texture. A museum quality set of 3, 1750's textiles ~

MEASUREMENTS : These two panels measure approximately 129 inches wide by 108 inches long . The valance measures approximately 194 inches by 15 inches at the deepest point.

CONDITION ~I've freshly laundered this set and it's ready to use. LOVELY condition. There are a few very small holes, the silk trim is woven in some areas, the valance needs some hem repairs, but generally, they are in astoundingly good condition. These hemp blend textiles were workhorses of the day, made to stand the test of time, and they sure did!~ Light signs of time and use often inherent in textiles nearly 300 years old.
