The legendary Tecun Uman was said to be one of the last rulers of the K’iche’ Mayans, who fought against the Conquistadors in the highlands of Guatemala. And although he was slain in his struggle to save his people, Tecun Uman became a legend amongst the Mayans of Guatemala, and was even declared a National Hero by the modern Guatemalan state. Nowadays, there are statues, poems and dances to commemorate this national icon… and you too can enjoy the stoic and vibrant image of Tecun Uman in your own home!
