After an international competition, Poland chose a modified version of BAE Systems Land Systems' 155mm/52 caliber Braveheart self-propelled artillery mount (formerly called RO Defense) to meet its army's forward-looking requirements for self-propelled artillery.

This is a turret with a 155 mm caliber gun and a 52 caliber barrel, which was installed on a Polish chassis designed and manufactured by OBRUM, while the Polish company HSW was chosen as the general contractor for the serial production of the entire system. The self-propelled guns received the name called KRAB.
