Antique Circa 1878
silver cased fusee pocket watch in good working order. The dial is white enamel
with black-coloured Roman numerals and blued steel hands with sub-dial. The
movement is a full plate chain driven fusee with a lever escapement and diamond
jewelled end-stone, clean with a good strong tick keeping good fusee time
running the full length of its chain and marked Adam Burdess Coventry with the
number 12153.
The back covers are
marked to the inside with London silver hallmarks for 1878 the maker mark IH
and the number 12153 the same as the movement telling us that the movement and
case started life together. It is key wind and set. The dial and dial lens are
clean and clear and free from any chips or cracks apart from a faint hairline
to its dial. The case is clean and bright and has worn as to its age with all
the covers closing nice and tight. It Measures a 50mm excluding crown. It comes
supplied with an outer metal cased miners’ safety case as in the photos.
