This is an "Official Paid" box containing 2 WWII medals - the War Medal 1939 - 1945 and the Defence Medal.

The War Medal 1939-1945 was awarded for at least 28 days of service in the armed forces during the Second World War.

The medal depicts an emblem of a lion trampling an Imperial eagle and on the reverse, a side angle of King George VI.

The medal is in fine condition with some small scratches and markings that are not easily visible.

The Defence Medal was awarded to civilians and members of the armed forces who served in non-operational areas that were, nevertheless, subject to attacks such as air raids. This included air raid wardens and members of the Civil Defence in Britain during the blitz.

The medal shows the effigy of King George VI, this time without his crown. The other side depicts a lion and a lioness beside an oak sapling - oak trees being a symbol of strength in English heritage.

The medal is in fine condition with some faint scratching and marking.
