With precise measurements for each size, pattern grading is not necessary. Pattern grading is also known as garment grading, and it is not needed when the exact measurements are available and known for each size in each style category. If you know what each of the essential 19 points of measurement are for the finished garments fashion clothes, you can use this measurement data as the basis foundation for your final complete tech pack and specification spec sheet. Accurate measurements are helpful as they are used by the manufacturer during the manufacturing process when the clothes are being made. When clothes are made to spec, the clothes are more likely to fit people properly and they are more likely to look nice when they’re worn.
Having a list and table of all the measurements for each
size helps when in it comes to estimating the amount of fabric needed for each garment, when
estimating the amount of dye needed for each dye lot, and when estimating the total
cost of production for each production run. Fewer samples are often needed,
less waste fabric scrap is produced, and overall costs tend to be lower, when there
is standardized production according to technical specification measurements.
