• British label Embassy Records specialized in budget singles distributed only through the Woolworth's chain. These were covers of the hits of the day, often with top artists performing under pseudonyms. This four-disc set collects the 56 singles Embassy released to Woolworth's in 1962, both the A- and B-sides, and it amounts to 114 tracks (one of the releases that year had four tracks) that form a sort of budget alternative history of that year's hit parade. ~ Steve Leggett
