J&B Fruit Jar  PAT'D JUNE 14th 1898 Quart Canning Jar With 8 Sided Octogon Shoulder - Jar is BIM, blown in mold and has some nice large bubbles found on early jars. It is boldly embossed with the “J&B” within an 8 sided octagon shield with “FRUIT JAR  PAT’D JUNE 14th 1898” all below the shield. There is a 2 embossed on the bottom. The lettering is all good with no damage, I only feel one very tiny rough spot not hardly a nick on one side of the shield border.

Jar is greenish aqua, has no haze, glass is nice and shiny with no scratches. The jar measures nearly 7 inches high, 8 3/4 inches in diameter at the base. The top lip is hand ground so has the typical roughness of a hand ground lip with one very small chip inside the lip. The jar has a Ball zinc lid with porcelain lining that fits perfectly. 

The jar weighs over a pound unpacked and will be double boxed and mailed in the 2 to 3 pound range by USPS Ground Advantage with tracking and insurance. I will be able to mail my items on Mondays and Tuesdays. I am not accepting returns as these are estate items.
