Highlights Born as the third son of the 9th generation Setsudo Miwa, he worked hard to train himself in traditional techniques under his older brother Kyusetsu Miwa Kyukazu , the 10th generation, who was recognized as a Living National Treasure of Hagiyaki.
Afterwards, he studied tea pottery under Kawakita Handeko, the 11th generation Miwa Kyusetsu Jusetsu .
After Mr. Kyukazu retired, he inherited the Miwa Kyusetsu'' and was later recognized as a Living National Treasure himself.
He has breathed new life into the world of tea pottery with innovative works such as Onihagi'' like this one.
The snow white glaze, reminiscent of melting snow, and the grainy texture of the earth, reminiscent of the breathing of the earth, are a dynamic beauty unique to Onihagi.
The powerful view behind the hill created by the intense curling of the glaze is also a must see.
This is the pinnacle of Hagiyaki art, with its rich, mellow white and pink color, and the rough texture of the clay.
