This auction is for a HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE (and possibly unique 21 years later) item given exclusively to employees of Yahoo! as a Christmas present in 2002.

The specific item is a Compaq iPAC Personal Audio Player PA-2, an MP3 player that came out just six months after Apple’s iPod.

Much of this item’s collectibility comes from the Yahoo!-themed packaging (see images), which really plays upon the company’s online mission and corporate climate.

This item has never been opened, but there are a few condition details that are important to point out. The most obvious is that the front right corner of the plastic packaging, which has started to deteriorate (see images). Even so, this is a corporate gift which likely was only given a few thousand employees, most of whom presumably opened the packaging, given the relative recent novelty MP3 players had in the year 2002.

This item should belong in the collection of people and institutions most invested in the documentation of the history of Yahoo!, Silicon Valley, and early online culture. Serious bidders only, please !
