BESCHREIBUNG
Erste Ausgabe der Pfingstpredigten des Franziskanerpaters von der Observanz, eines fruchtbaren Schriftstellers, der unter dem Namen Antonius de Balacho fassbar ist. Er stammt aus Balacco bei Vercelli im Piemont. Der vorliegende Druck ist gleichzeitig die einzige Inkunabel-Ausgabe, der erst nach 1500 elf weitere Editionen folgten.
Der Autor setzt sich hierbei in seinen Pfingstpredigten mit den „Zwölf Wundern des christlichen Glaubens“ auseinander, in Bezugnahme auf die Ausgießung des Heiligen Geistes während des sogenannten „Pfingswunders“, bei dem die zwölf Jünger zusammen mit Maria nach Christi Tod zusammentrafen und sich laut der Apostelgeschichte der Heilige Geist über sie ergoss und sie als Apostel der Mission in die Welt aussandte.
Besonders interessant in diesem Exemplar ist der auf dem hinteren fliegenden Vorsatz in Französisch verfasste Sinnspruch des 15. Jahrhunderts: „Qui a filles, vignes et vieilles maisons Il a des affaires en toute saisons ...“, gezeichnet von einem „p. Notarij“.

Zweispaltige gotische Type in 51 Zeilen. Jungfräuliche (leere) Initialspatien und eine Holzschnitt-Druckermarke am Schluss. Kolumnentitel und erste fünf Zeilen in Rotdruck.

EINBAND
Originaler Ledereinband der Zeit. Blindgeprägtes Kalbsleder über Pappdeckeln.
Diagonal verlaufende Streicheisenfilete. In den Feldern jeweils Lilienstempel. Rücken und Ecken sorgfältig und unter weitgehender Erhaltung der Originalsubstanz restauriert. Guter Zustand mit Gebrauchsspuren.
Bindung und Buchblock fest und stabil. Deckel fleckig und etwas beschabt.
Rücken erneuert. Die vier Bindebänder entfernt. Innengelenke restauriert, Vorsätze neu montiert.
Quartformat: 22,5 x 16,5 x 4 cm.
ZUSTAND
Sehr guter Zustand. Sauberes Exemplar mit nur ganz vereinzelten, kleinen Flecken und einigen zeitgenössischen Marginalien. Tadellos und ohne Schäden oder Verluste.

Franziskanerorden Besançon - Unter der letzten Kolumne des Registers der handschriftliche Besitzvermerk „Fr(ater) Johannes de Abanco 1497“ in roter Tinte und mit Siegelchiffre. Auf dem vorderen Vorsatz ein Eintrag eines weiteren Minoritenbruders „Fr(ater) Franciscus Amerti ord(inis) fr(atru)m minorum comitatuum civitatis Bistuntinensis".

DESCRIPTION
First edition with the sermons for Pentecost by the Franciscan father of the Observance, one of the prolific writers, better known with the name Antonius de Balacho. He comes from Balacco near Vercelli in Piemont.
The present Incunable is also the only incunabula edition, which was only followed by eleven further editions after 1500. In his Pentecost sermons, the author deals with the "Twelve Miracles of the Christian Faith", referring to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the so-called "Miracle of Pentecost", in which the twelve disciples met together with Mary after Christ's death and, according to the Acts of the Apostles, the Holy Spirit poured out on them and sent them out into the world as apostles of the mission.
Particularly interesting in this work is the 15th century motto written in French on the rear flyleaf endpaper:
„Qui a filles, vignes et vieilles maisons Il a des affaires en toute saisons ...“, with signature by a „p. Notarij“.

BINDING
Original leather of the time. Blindstamped calf leather over cardboard.
Diagonally lines. Lily stamps in the fields. Spine and corners carefully restored, largely preserving the original substance. Good condition with traces of use. Binding and book block firm and stable. Cover stained and somewhat scuffed. Spine renewed. The four binding bands removed. Inner joints restored, endpapers newly mounted.
Quart: 22,5 x 16,5 x 4 cm.
CONDITION
Very good condition. Clean and only partly small stains and some contemporary marginals. Flawless and without damage or losses.

Franziscan Order of Besançon - Under the last column of the register the handwritten ownership note:
„Fr(ater) Johannes de Abanco 1497“ in red ink and seal cipher.
At the front endpaper with a further note by a Minorite Brother:
„Fr(ater) Franciscus Amerti ord(inis) fr(atru)m minorum comitatuum civitatis Bistuntinensis".
