This is a nice Victorian Sterling Silver Butter Knife with Lovely, Bright, Vari Coloured Mother Of Pearl Handle.

The silver blade is chased to one side with a lovely floral burst, and on the other side is engraved with the name CLARA.

The blade hallmarked with the assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter R for 1866, and the maker's mark for Hilliard & Thomason.

Reasonable antique condition with typical scratches to the blade, the tip of the blade is bent as though it has been used as a screwdriver, and the whole blade is a little bent; the gauge of silver for the blade seems unusually thin to me so it's no surprise it's a little bent after 160 years. The handle and ferrule are nice and tight. The hallmarks are clear.

The knife is 14.9 cm long and weighs 23g.
