1923 L. C. Smith Corona 3 Portable Folding Typewriter. Beautiful, glossy black finish. The finish shows wear mostly on the front body ridge (see photos). Front front-facing Emblem looks very nice.  The back emblem also looks nice as well as the paper tray emblem. As is common for this age of machine, the platen is hardened but does not have cracking - The platen roller still is slightly less than rock hard and the printing looks to be decent. Paper feed and paper feed rollers have been inspected and work as they should. Has original ribbon spools/ribbon covers. The keyboard keys are in very nice condition. The original rubber typewriter feet are in fair condition.

The typewriter has been cleaned, and lubricated but does require some minor adjustment on the FIG keys.  A typewriter shop can make any adjustments needed.  Ribbon installed is in good condition. The case is fair but missing the original paper/fabric covering and the top is missing the rear section that is part of the hinges for the case, see photos.  The front latch hooks but no key and won't stay due to a missing section of the rear top of the case.  All operations other than the noted FIG are working as they should.

This 100+ year-old machine would be a super nice addition to a Smith Corona collection.  It is a working typewriter (other than FIG keys noted) ready for use. It does require a deliberate typing touch.

**If you purchase this or any typewriter that is vintage such as this, please keep in mind it has characteristics like any other antique with its finish and function.  It has some finish blemishes which are pictured.  I would be happy to provide any other pictures you may want before purchase so you know exactly what you are buying so you know before shipment everything about the piece you're considering.

Please review all photos as they are part of the description of your purchase.  I take great pride in my packing and your purchase will be boxed so it arrives in the same condition as it left here as you can see with my reviews of how I pack antique items.
