You are looking at a fully branded 1990 Japanese Grand Prix 1:43 McLaren-Honda MP4/5B resin model of Three-Time Formula 1 World Champion Ayrton Senna - made by resin and diecast German model manufacturer Minichamps (Product Code: 547 904527).

The 1990 F1 season saw Ayrton Senna once again battle for the title with his bitter rival and former McLaren teammate Alain Prost, who had made the switch to the Ferrari team for the 1990 season after the fallout of the 1989 season.  At the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka in 1989, the two then teammates Prost and Senna collided with each other after Senna made an audacious attempt to overtake Prost at the final chicane coming out of 130R on lap 47.  This led to a chain of events that saw Senna win the race on the road, but got disqualified for rejoining the track in a dangerous manner, handing Prost the title before his move to Ferrari as a result of the untenable situation within the team.

The two drivers would share the front row a year later, with Senna taking pole from Prost but on the dirty side of the track which Ayrton tried to have changed before the race, but had his request rejected.  Prost would get the better start, but Senna kept his nose into a closing gap in the run up to Turn 1 and collided with the Frenchman, taking both drivers out and automatically handing Senna his second F1 title in highly controversial fashion, made more so by the fact Ayrton admitted "intentionally" taking out Alain as revenge for the fallout of the year before.

During the 1990 season, Ayrton scored a total of six wins and eleven podium finishes which counted towards his eleven best results over a season at the time (a system employed by F1 which was in its final season in 1990 before every race and points scored counted towards the championship from 1991 to present) for a total of 78 points.

The model features Ayrton's McLaren-Honda MP4/5B as it ran at that fateful title deciding race at the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka.  It comes with the full Marlboro tobacco branding the team ran with at that race (decals supplied by Minichamps), which have been applied by myself onto the model.

The model and lid are both in new condition.

Thanks for looking :)
