DESCRIPTION:
This is a wonderful an very rare 8 inch dial SOLID mahogany cased fusee wall clock. The movement to this clock is excellent being a very good quality fusee movement. The dial is signed with the maker 'MAPLE & CO LONDON'. Maple & Co. was a British furniture maker at 141-150 Tottenham Court Road in London, which was especially successful during the Victorian and Edwardian era. It was founded by John Maple (28 Feb 1815 - 4 Mar 1900) in the early 19th century. It was later run by John Blundell Maple, 1st Baronet. Maple became one of the prime makers and suppliers of furniture to the aristocracy and royalty in the United Kingdom.

The case is made from wonderful SOLID mahogany which has some superb grain and is a wonderful colour.  The case has a wonderful patina which can only be gained through age. The door to the base of the clock is complete with its lock and key. 
If we start with the dial this is a white dial marked out with Roman numerals. The bezel is brass. There is also a catch for closing and releasing the dial.
 
The case also has a door to the base which is complete with lock and key and then there is a further door to the right side which is held in place with a catch. When the movement needs to be accessed the catch is simply released to the side which then allows the pendulum to be hung easily.
 
The movement itself is excellent being a single fusee movement, and is nice and clean. The clock is 8 day . The clock is in good working order and is happily ticking away. The clock comes complete with it's winding key and pendulum.
 
AGE:
The clock is circa 1890 / 1900.

 
DIMENSIONS:
The approximate dimensions are:
- 10 3/4 inches (27.5 cm) in diameter across the case
- 6 inches (15 cm) deep
- 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter across the dial
 
CONDITION:
With regards condition, the clock is in very good condition, as can be seen from the photographs. The movement itself is excellent being a single fusee movement, and is nice and clean and is happily ticking away. The case is also in superb condition just minor marks commensurate with age. The dial is in original condition and as such has some marks and chips and is worn in places commensurate with age and use, as can be seen from the photographs. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description and condition, as what you view is exactly what you will receive.
