The plane was obtained from an estate sale, where it was apart of a private collection, shows well cared for, exact age is unknown.

This is a vintage smooth bottom wood plane model no 18, made by the Millers Falls Tool Company. The Company was in operation from 1868 to 1982.

The plane is No 18, same size as a Stanley no 6.

The plane is embossed on the lever cap MILLER FALLS with red background, and PAT NO 1822520.

The iron is stamped MILLERS FALLS, MADE IN USA “SOLID TOOL STEEL”, the base is stamped on the side MILLER FALLS No 18.

The plane is 18" long and has a 2 7/8" wide base, the blade is 2 3/8" wide and 7 3/4” long.

The blade depth adjuster knob is brass and approx. 1 1/4" diameter.

The plane is in good condition and was lightly cleaned.., the plane apparently was drop or hit on front edges way back when and chipped front edge---I dressed both front edges up a little—see pics,…….wood is solid, but had finish cracking and flaking off---was stripped, sanded and refinished close to original color,……. The plane has approx 80 to 90 % of the black japanning intact…… As with the vintage of the plane, there is normal use wear, some scratches, dings and dents, and some discoloration, all as noted from the photos.
