This guide is for federal land managers who are dealing with the consequences of climate change, and the scientists and researchers who work with them. It presents a framework for integrating climate science into federal land management, drawing on the results of the Landscape Climate Change Vulnerability Project (LCCVP), which used satellites to measure ecosystems from the air. The results focus on the impact of climate change in the Rocky Mountains, the Yellowstone area, and the Appalachian mountain ranges, but methods can be applied to other ecosystems and wildlands. The first part of th outlines approaches for climate adaptation planning. Later sections deal with climate and land use change, ecological consequences and vulnerabilities, and managing under climate change. Some specific topics explored include using landforms and physiographic diversity to assess vulnerability, potential impacts of climate change on vegetation and tree species in these regions, and the likely response of native and invasive salmonid fish to climate changes in these regions. Th contains many b&w maps, illustrations, and graphs. Annotation ©2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR ()
