Built like a tank

In a world of lightweight Blu-ray players, Oppo's commitment to solid construction is reassuring. The BDP-105D's sturdy drive mechanism and advanced error correction help it sail through discs that cause other players to stumble and stall. One nice extra is two HDMI outputs. That's handy for feeding two displays, like home theaters with both a projector and a flat-panel TV. It's also a great solution if you have an HDMI-equipped receiver that doesn't handle 3D: you can send 3D video to your TV over one HDMI while sending multichannel audio to your receiver with the other. Like the original BDP-105, the BDP-105D is a pleasure to use, with soft-touch controls on the front panel and one of the best backlit remotes we've seen.
