You are bidding on an offcut of vintage nylon sprat net - ideal for crafts or covering things up, eg in the garden.

It measures approx 5 foot 6 inches by 5 foot 5 inches (stretched mesh). Stretched mesh is the way fishermen measure net dimensions. Basically you pull in sideways, measure the width with the mesh fully closed from knot to knot. Then release it and pull it down and measure the depth with the mesh fully closed. Therefore when this net is pulled in both directions to open the mesh, the actual size of the net will be smaller than the dimensions above (see diagram explaining stretched mesh)

From what I can see there are no rips, one golf ball size hole and no meshes broken.

A sprat net has a small mesh size, as can be seen in the photo next to a 1p piece (the 1p photo was taken in bad light - the net is white).

This net dates from around the early 1960s

I am an elderly old fisherman, nearing 80, who is selling off all of my old fishing gear that I have bought over decades of fishing.  I have fished since I was a teenager and recently sold my boat and I now have a lot of old fishing items for sale as I empty my loft. Please feel free to check my other listings, or ask me if you want anything specific and I can check to see if I have it.
