Measuring approximately 8 1/2 x 11 inches and drawn on standard copy paper, this preliminary gag artwork features the work of acclaimed Playboy artist Doug Sneyd. In good condition (as a prelim, these are part of Sneyd's creative process - they were not meant to be kept perfect and so do have some use wear), it will be shipped with the utmost care.  Please note- this is an actual, original piece of art drawn by hand by Sneyd.  It is not a copy, print or pre-printed image.  It is a one-of-a-kind original.  Rendered with Sharpie fine point permanent marker.  Of note, this rough was one of the concept sketches selected for inclusion in Secret Sneyd: The Unpublished Cartoons of Doug Sneyd hardcover book released in 2017 by Dark Horse.  So, though it did not appear in Playboy, the piece is still published.  Included with the listing is a Xerox copy of the cover to Secret Sneyd as well as a slip denoting the chapter and page number the cartoon appears on in the book. 

Shown for reference is the "No Frills" illustration both unframed then framed to illustrate how nice these gag roughs look hanging on the wall.  Please note that it is not included in with the listing.  The listing is for the original artwork only of the gag rough shown in image one.

About Doug Sneyd:

Doug Sneyd began his career in commercial illustration before going freelance to work for a variety of book and magazine publishers.  He also illustrated single-panel cartoons for the Toronto Star, Canada's largest circulation newspaper (cartoons that were eventually syndicated throughout North America).  In 1964, he began working for Playboy and his gag strips have appeared in the magazine ever since.  Throughout his career, he has contributed over 500 cartoons in all and became a favorite artist of Playboy readers.
