I purchased this car in 2022 as basically a shell, the
original owner was going to convert it to a V8 but was selling it to fund a new
business. I purchased the car because the previous owner advised that “took it back to bare shell and had it on a
rostisse, all the bottom has been taken back to metal and been expoxy primered,
seam sealed…….and then coated with a raptor coating. The previous owner had
welded in two new inner and outer sills…..” (a copy of the original posting
for reference is available) I bought
it for this reason as a very solid shell with all the major rust taken care of and
I have no reason to doubt this work was done as I have seen it evidenced during
my ownership and conversion to a V8. So the car is completely solid both on top
and underneath.
It was originally a 1978 rubber bumpered MGB GT and I have converted
it to an V8 MGB with chrome bumpers in Midnight Blue.
Car runs and drives nicely on original MGB V8 Dunlop
composite alloys with new tyres. The engine is the 3,500 cc Rover V8 (9.35:1
compression) mated to an R380 5 speed gearbox. The engine benefits from a 4
barrel Holley carb on an Edelbrock performance manifold, new electronic
distributor, block hugger exhaust manifolds and a
custom stainless steel system running to the rear. Improving all the right
“suck, bang, blow” ingredients for a sweet running engine. In addition it
boasts a 70mm high flow triple core aluminium radiator with twin electric fans. The rev counter has been re-calibrated for the 8 cylinder
engine
Other improvements are to both the front and rear
suspension. With the front fitted with the Bilstein telescopic conversion kit
(built with poly bushes) and the rear having been upgraded with telescopic
dampers.
Front brakes have been improved with new calipers using
drilled and grooved discs with EBC Green stuff pads and stainless steel braided
hoses front and rear.
The car sports brand new Midnight Blue paint (stripped,
primed and re-sprayed properly) with an original matching blue interior (seats,
door cards and carpets)
The bonnet has a discreet custom steel power bulge, not
fibreglass, fully welded in.
It is also fitted with a brand new 12 volt battery and new
windscreen.
Since these photos were taken I have added the V8 centre
caps to the wheels (see last photo) and added 1” lowering blocks on the rear,
bringing the stance down.
This is a car you can buy and drive home.
The V5c shows the car registered as an Historic vehicle, tax
and MoT exempt. Though it does currently have an MoT which I do for peace of
mind.
I am selling the car as I have another V8 and have just bought
another car and have run out of space.
Now the usual stuff:
