Hello everyone, today I have a true holy grail for any serious pokemon collector. This bike was only obtained through the Kellogs Eat Emm Up And Win! Challenge hosted by WB Kids in autumn of 2000. This item is very unique in a few ways aside from it's rarity. Most noticeably the bike features evolutions of the original 151 starters but it is the middle evolutions, which is something I can't recall seeing on anything pokemon themed. As well as featuring Poliwihrl on a separate part of the frame. This bike also features, of course, Pikachu on both the plastic piece on the handle bars and on the chain guard. The matching themed training wheels both also feature a Thunderbolt on them. It is equipped with a seat that has the pokemon logo on it in 2 places. 2 pokeballs are also attached in the spokes of each wheel

The bike itself is a 16" RAND manufactured in China. Look for the manufacturers sticker in pictures. These bikes were used for other less limited kids themed bikes such as hot wheels, Superman, spiderman,  etc. I'm not sure how those compare in build quality as I have not seen one up close, but I believe there are differences. The pokemon bike here for sale has a very bad build quality, which I believe is what has led to the incredible low numbers that are still around today. RAND only made 1000 for the order. For whatever reason, the welds on this bike are not something anyone would be proud of. While to an average person, it might not be noticed, the factory welds have small holes that can be seen through, yet there is no rust anywhere near the weld. The quality of the welds and metal combined with them being used outside by children, makes these almost impossible to find in decent condition. Let alone still having the original pokeballs in the bike spokes, which appear to be made of nothing more than laminated cardboard paper.

The contest this bike was obtained from was sponsored by Kellogs and hosted by WBKids and was promoted heavily during their Saturday morning line up. The contest involved calling into WB with a code that kids would obtain through boxes of the original pokemon cereal and some kind of info from WB themselves that was broadcast on the channel that day. If you remember the box which has pikachu carrying a spoon over their shoulder, that's the one.

The contest ran for 2 weeks excluding Sundays, and gave out a total of 400 prizes per day. These prizes included things such as card packs and variety of small pokemon knick knacks, all the way up to copies of the original gen 2 gold and silver games, and the grand prize of the bike your seeing today, which came with a charizard helmet. In my research I have been unable to find any info on the helmet that was included, they did release a charizard bike helmet in 1999 that I would assume was what they included but haven't been able to confirm this.

Last and most important, it's authenticity. I am not the original owner of this bike. I bought this locally about a year ago from an older woman and her daughter who were not collectors, but appeared to be cleaning out a very full house. At the time of purchase I asked them where they got it from and how long they'd had it. They told me they had no idea how they got it and said they've "just always had it". I told them to call me if they happened to find a charizard helmet but I never heard back from them.

That being said, I do have emails between myself and heritage auctions, more specifically, one of their consignment directors for their Dallas branch. He agreed with me, after a week of his own research on it, being the real deal, and was willing to pay the shipping and insurance to have it on his auction floor in Dallas TX.  Our talks unfortunately broke down however due to heritage being unable to give any kind of appraisal, not allowing a reserve, and being unwilling to disclose anything about about their advertising strategy. It was unfortunate but gave a good insight since they were willing to spend hundreds to ship it and use up the space on their auction floor.

There are "fake" and or similar versions of this bike, however they are easily discernable after a quick comparison. There are also a few scam websites with stock photos of this bike but they are very easily recognized as scams. (For anyone who wants to Google lens the pictures, which I would fully expect and advise anyone to do). The last few pictures are from one of the winners of the contest showing the bike when originally won back in the year 2000, and what is advertised as an original add from the contest but I have no way to confirm that.

I apologize for the amount of reading material, and appreciate anyone who took the time to read all of it. This is the culmination  of a week's worth of on and off typing and months worth of on and off research. I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have on this and provide any more pictures you may need. Item will be shipped with the utmost care and security, as well as with signature confirmation. Happy to consider reasonable offers. Thanks for looking!
