The MXD-D400 is an MD+CD deck that combines a CD player and MD deck into a single unit and can dub from your CDs to MDs at 4x speed.

Both CDs and MDs record and play music (data) digitally, but MDs are much more compact in terms of data volume for the same song.

Writing (recording) to the media (MD) is also faster.
