CALIFORNIA CAB
'KING TUT GOLD'

NATURAL GOLD QUARTZ
from the U.S.A.

Welcome to the Gold of Eldorado!

'There's gold and it's haunting and haunting. It's luring me on as of old." The Spell of the Yukon - Robert Service.

When I first began work on this stone, the beautiful color of the precious metal inside it became instantly apparent. The thick maze of interconnected, high-karatage gold veinlets beam with a royal glow. At the beginning of this project, I'm looking at a large piece of rough wondering what shape to make. That's how it usually goes with basic, preliminary forms offering guidance. At this stage, one need only imagine how stunning it would be mounted inside a gold bezel. My personal preference in gold quartz varietals leans towards vari-colors like the one here. The show face is slightly-curved across the top, flat and unpolished on the bottom. At birth, California's Sierra Nevada Mtns. showed it where it's mother was. Evaluating GQ collector-stone depends on several factors. To begin with, high karatage gold obviously translates to an enhancement of worth. Overall aesthetic, juxtaposed against other gemstones, is an intangible not easy to quantify. GQ isn't diamond, ruby, sapphire, or emerald. Those stones can fetch $5K or more per carat. For this 'other gemstone', $50/ct. seems realistic. After all, we're talking about natural gold straight from Mother Earth, found in the U.S., and, in this case, it's one-of-a-kind collector stone. I believe you'll be thrilled once you've had a chance to see it up close and personal.

If you don't know much about gold, gold ores/gold quartz, lapidary, gemology, mineralogy, geology, or mining for gold; if you don't care for jewelry at all, just buy and cache this beautiful rock shot full of gleaming precious metal.

GQ or 'gold quartz' is, basically, gold ore. When ore is rich and aesthetic enough, it becomes desirable as jewelry-grade gemstone. For perhaps thousands of years, jewelers have been incorporating it into spectacular, karat-gold, works of art. Almost any kind of rock can be cut and made into a cab, but GQ is a different mineral altogether. It carries the precious cargo, gold. You would not crush this type of stone just to extract the gold. That would be rather foolish; not unlike crushing gem grade diamond for use as an abrasive. Gem-grade gold quartz is as rare, precious, and beautiful a mineral complex as you will find on the planet.

Where else do you think such stone would originate but California's Mother Lode? My mentor and I refer to this as 'Goldilocks' gold. GQ set inside any karat gold ring, gold bezel, or other gold framework adds considerable value. A multitude of colors embellish the coconut meat matrix. It was a friend's generosity which allowed me to acquire the mother rock this cab originated from. If you're drawn to gold quartz from the western U.S., maybe you're feeling the attraction.

As sole proprietor/operator of my Ebay store, I've been selling native gold and platinum products for over forty years. Back in the 80s and 90s, I was a full-time placer-miner and rustic gold nugget jewelry-designer. There's just something about hunting for (and working with) the elusive yellow metal known as gold. For one thing, out west, any normal (or abnormal) person can go into the hills and hunt for gold with a realistic chance of meeting with some success. That's pretty cool, really!

As you stroll through my store, expect to find lots of useful prospecting information and stories based upon my own goldfield experiences.

GQ! For hundreds of years, jewelers have been incorporating this native mineral medium into spectacular, karat-gold, works of art. Almost any kind of rock can be cut and made into a cab, but GQ is a different animal altogether because it carries the precious cargo, gold. You would not wish to crush this type of stone just to extract the gold from it. That would be akin to crushing gem grade diamond for use as an abrasive. Gem-grade gold quartz is as rare, precious, and beautiful a mineral complex as you will find on the planet.

 NATIVE MINERALS
Check any and all Gold of Eldorado feedback for disputes arising from non-authenticity of the specimens I sell. You won't find any. I deal in native minerals with visible gold, not replicas, not 'paint-ons'. I don't peddle 'simulated' specimens made with minute amounts of gold or no real gold at all. No fake nuggets here, folks. I was a professional placer miner myself and personally have bought stuff with gold painted on it. Some so-called 'natural gold quartz' specimens acquired had tiny chunks of placer gold glued into the vugs of barren rock. If folks want to fake their specimens, then it should be mandatory they advertise their products as simulations or replications. All of my advertised specimens, slabs, cabochons, gold ores et al are authentic and contain naturally-occurring, native gold and/or are composed almost entirely of naturally-occurring gold (i.e. gold nuggets, gold flakes, wire gold specimens). The purity of this gold will vary, but if it's from California, you can count on it being fairly high, from 70% to 90% pure on average. For comparision, a 14K gold wedding band is 58% pure gold. The origin of this gemstone is a vein system somewhere in the Sierra Nevada Mtns. of California.

Thanks for checking out our digs. I hope you find rich ground ahead.
