The original woodgrain panels are a 10 out of 10 and the front panel, including the display, are just about perfect. All of the buttons and switches are mechanically crisp and beautifully aligned. The display lights up beautifully: bright colors and good contrast. There are scratches on the top cover as seen in the photos.

I had this unit forever and love the way it looks. I own a few others ES woodgrain panels components and this player was part of the system. I admired the SONY ES line. To me, the mid 80’s SONY ES range was some of the most beautiful Hi-Fi gear ever produced. These units are getting harder and harder to find.

This is a very capable player. The C15ESD provides a full complement of operating features, including fast forward and reverse with audible sound and track step-ping in either direction. Two rows of buttons provide direct access to any disc or numbered track.
