For sale is one copy of The Uncanny X-men #165, direct edition, published by Marvel Comics in 1983.  This comic was purchased by me on it's release date, and has been in my possession ever since, stored in a clean, conditioned, smoke-free environment.

This comic, the first X-men issue drawn by Paul Smith, was signed by the artist at Mid-Ohio Con around the end of 1983.  I can't recall the date, but I think that '83 is right... but I do remember standing in a long line to meet him.  Mr. Smith was extremely gracious and seemed to enjoy talking to everyone, and he even drew a pencil sketch of Colossus for me.  Good memories.

Of note, back in the 80's, it was commonplace for comic signatures to be made on the inside first page, not the cover as is the trend today.  No one wanted their books to written on the front, as it was seen back then as a devaluation.  To this day I still don't like seeing signatures and remarks all over the front of comics.

Anyway... Before purchasing, please look at the photographs and judge condition of the comic for yourself, as I've tried to highlight all surfaces.  I'm not a professional grader, so my opinion is just an opinion, but to my untrained eye, this comic appears to fall somewhere around the NM range of condition.  I see no spine ticks or color breaks anywhere.

I ship with care, and will never skimp when it comes to packing.  Your comic will be bagged and ddouble bboarded using premium a 2 mil crystal clear OPP bag, then placed in a USPS padded envelope, which itself will be placed inside a Gemini-II comic mailer to be shipped from my house to yours via USPS Economy Media Mail. I've had tremendous success with this layered packing method, as the comic mailer itself is well-designed and helps protect from shipping damage, while the padded envelope keeps the comic from sliding around and prevents exposure to the elements.

Thank you!
