Compiled, drawn and edited following the Great
War (World War 1)

It contained no map previously published in any
form being an entirely new work and embodied every boundary alteration
resulting from the Peace Settlement

A large staff of cartographers were engaged on
producing Harmsworth’s New Atlas from the beginning of 1915, when it became
apparent that the world would have to be re-mapped

All the latest political changes were included
in the general maps, compiled in every case from the most up-to-date and
authoritative sources

In addition a large number of maps were
illustrative of the Great War, in its historic origins, progress of
hostilities, and eventual settlement, formed an important feature of the Atlas

on HARMSWORTH's Atlas of the World and the Great War

Published fortnightly in 1919 / 1920, in 40 parts, which over the issue period June
1919 - November 1920 contained 485 coloured maps and
plans plus 3,540 photographic views & Index to 120,000 locations / place
names

Each part contained several sections which over
the weeks culminated in the reader being able to have all sections bound into a
book which put all sections in order
