Gilt decorated, light brown cloth hardcover, 232 pages, plus several pages of publisher's ads (a couple illustrated) in the very back. Contains six black and white plates (including the tissue-guarded frontispiece) and a chart showing the elevation of various points along the journey. Missing the fold-out map.
Acceptable condition. Frayed spine ends, rubbed through board corners, stains on the exterior (mostly in back). A thin, approx. 1 in. split in the back spine edge. Repaired tears in the front hinge paper, a small scuff on the front endpaper and a small sticker on the back endpaper advertising Welch & Co., "University Bindery." Otherwise unmarked, securely bound. Repaired tear (leaving a light glue stain on one page) and a corner chip (the latter not affecting text) on page 215/216 (see the final two pics). A few small tears, a couple corner bends, slightly bumped top page corners.
