So here's what we have: Grandpa is 98 years old and has run a mail-order stamp business since as long as I car remember (I'm 66).  He won't retire, but he is going to downsize as he moves to "Assisted Living."  It's a nice place, but smaller than his current apartment.  So we have roughly 100 file boxes, and we want to sell a few.  This one has stamps from the Israel, the Vatican, the UN, Uzbekistan,  (about 300, the UNs, Virgin Islands, Wallis and Fortuna, Viet Nam, Yemen, Zambia, and a few other places. There are 800 envelopes with sale prices marked on them.  Some have just one stamp, others are several stamps in a series. Each envelope has a price on it, which was Grandpa's asking price at some point.  I have pulled out the ones that were $5 or more and photographed them for you.  Probably 90% are under a dollar, with maybe 10% marked at a dollar or more, and I found 24 that were $5 or more.  In some cases I found EBay prices were higher for the valuable stamps, in other cases lower.  The expensive stamps shown in the photos have a total asking price of about $750.  I'm not going to tabulate all 800 envelopes, but assuming their average value is 50 cents per envelope, that would be $400 retail value.  Thus I estimate that the retail "ask" (the prices that were written on the envelopes at some point in the past 20 years by Grandpa, is  about $750 + $400 = $1150. However, we are selling these stamps wholesale, so I'm starting the bidding at $250.  If you are a stamp dealer, it may take a while, but you will make money by purchasing these stamps and reselling them. There will be similar deals offered at similar prices soon.
