Medalta Canadian Art Pottery Brown Spittoon/Cuspidor/Planter Bowl.

We are pleased to offer this very rare Canadian Art Pottery Spittoon manufactured by the Medalta Potteries in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada circa 1935. It would make a wonderful planter or vase for flowers - and would be just gorgeous to display as a decorative centerpiece bowl on its own.

This rustic antique cuspidor features an embossed floral and scrolled vine design on an all brown glazed background. It was also done in a solid forest green, in solid turquoise and in a darker brown. It is sometimes marked with an incised/impressed "MEDALTA", but this one was not.

It measures 7-1/4" in diameter and stands 4-3/4" tall. The bottom has a glazed center with dry foot ring/outer unglazed edge.

It has some typical glaze pops, light crazing from age and a few little dots where the glaze is missing (extremely minor); otherwise it is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips or cracks. The interior is just as clean as can be. Just a lovely piece of rare early Canadian Art Pottery that you are sure to want to add to your collection.
