Japanese Antique Ohayashi Heian Dancer Doll Ningyo. 

Beautiful elegant Ohayashi Dancer doll. I believe her to be the dancing member of gonin-bayashi (also called 'ohayashi - five court-musician). This would have possible used as a hina doll that would be displayed in the house at the time of Girls' Festival. 

The head is made from lacquered wood with a wood and straw stuffed body. She's very delicate and dressed with a beautiful subtle coloured kimono made of cotton. The kimono on the back of her arm has become threadbare due to the age and there is a slight tear at the bottom of kimono but otherwise in wonderful all round condition. Please refer to photos.
