Catalogue Reference:- Pick#6. $3 Dollars 1992 issue Commemorative Banknote (In the Cook Islands the New Zealand Dollar is the circulating currency used. The Cook Islands also issues its own distinctive notes and coins which are in circulation alongside the $NZ and are pegged to the value of the NZ$).

The note is printed on White Paper in Shades of Green and Multicolours. The note features the legend of Ina* and the Shark on the face of the note -

*Ina was betrothed to Tinirau, the God of the Ocean who lived on a floating island, miles away from her own home. She longed to be with her true love and the only way to reach him was to cross over the sometimes-ferocious sea. She tried to get help in this perilous venture from a variety of sea creatures but it was only when she asked Tekea the Shark to take her to the island where Tinirau was, that she got a positive response. During the journey she got hungry, so she cracked open one of the coconuts she had brought with her on the shark. According to the legend this is how sharks acquired a dent on their heads.

The reverse of the banknote features a typical Cook Islands fishing canoe/boat as the main image, at the right-hand side of the note is a carving of the god Tangaroa (the Māori God of the Sea). It has an official overprint at the lower left stating - 5th FESTIVAL of PACIFIC ARTS RAROTONGA COOK ISLANDS OCTOBER 16-27, 1992.

The note is printed on paper and has no security features, save for the Serial number, which is printed in Blue at the lower left corner and the lower centre right - AAR 016495.

The note is signed at the lower right corner on the face by Sir Thomas Davis who served his second term as Prime Minister and Finance Minister between 1983 and 1987. Above his signature are the following words in the Cook Islands Māori language - ‘KO TEIA KURA E KURA AKAMANA IA I RARO AKE I TE TURE MONI E $3 TORU TARA'. This means roughly something like - ‘This note can be lawfully accepted to pay amounts of 3 New Zealand Dollars in the Cook Islands'.

I ALWAYS COMBINE POSTAGE COSTS ON MULTIPLE WINS _ PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR ITEMS UNTIL YOU RECEIVE MY COMBINED POSTAGE INVOICE IF YOU ARE BIDDING ON MORE THAN ONE ITEM!

IMPORTANT - All my items are sent to the UK from my current location in Italy by Certificated Airmail for safety reasons, and INTERNATIONAL BUYERS, please note that any item or group of items which totals more than £30 will have to be sent by insured delivery for the safety and security of your item - there can be I am afraid no exceptions to this.

Please note that as a matter of course I do not now post to some countries where the postal system seems to be unreliable. Therefore, those buyers from RUSSIA, CHINA, INDIA, BANGLADESH, PAKISTAN, INDONESIA, MALAYSIA, VIETNAM, SAUDI ARABIA, MEXICO, ISRAEL & CHILE who wish to bid on my notes will have to contact me first and be aware that any items won will be sent by chargeable INSURED TRACKABLE postage. This is because at least 30% of items sent to buyers in these locations in the last few years for some reason do not arrive. The cost of insurance will add about £10 to the cost of the item.

I always combine postage and shipping on more than one item won.  If you think my postage and shipping charges are unreasonable then please contact me before you make a bid. For full details of shipping and postage costs to UK and other European destinations and all other addresses Worldwide, please refer to the Payment Instructions below:-

PAYMENT - Pay through the eBay system using your preferred payment method.  In exceptional circumstances I may accept £, US$, € at current rates or a personal cheque drawn in £ on a UK registered Bank, please contact me first if you wish to pay this way.

NB. Please do not pay until you receive my invoice, especially if you have won more than one item, as I always combine the postage packing and shipping costs, so that you save on postage. I do of course appreciate it if you pay quickly but I am sure you wouldn't want to be paying too much for postage. If you do overpay I will usually refund you through the eBay system, before I send your item or items.

A note about feedback

I do not wait for you to leave Feedback for me like some sellers do, so Transactions will receive positive feedback soon after payment is made. I strive to earn 100% perfect 'five-star' scores from you, my customer. The star scores are very important because eBay uses them to determine the visibility of my items in search results. So before you leave your Feedback for me, if anything about the transaction did not meet your expectations, please let me know and at least give me the chance to put things right, before leaving negative Feedback or contacting eBay.

Always contact me first before contacting eBay or opening a case, I will always help, I will block bidders who open cases without contacting me first!

PLEASE NOTE ALL ITEMS ARE NOW MAILED FROM MY CURRENT LOCATION IN ITALY, posted the same day that payment is received or the next working day after payment, if made at the weekend. When I am in the UK, I may post from there. Some deliveries may take longer than normal to arrive, this is not my fault, merely the aftermath of the RECENT problems since March 2020, experienced within the International Postal System!

Although now, even though the International Postal system is almost back to normal again, there still can be the odd delay to some destinations.
