Condition report: poster is overall in worse condition, was stored rolled, shows fold lines and waves, also shows tears and creasing especially on edges, in corners and in fold lines, some yellowing and stains, three repairs made by tape from the backside in the upper and lower margin area, approx. 15, 9 and 8cm long
Historical context: previously unrecorded poster related to education and schooling theme from the former Czechoslovakia.
Poster depicts man with bell wearing a hat with inscription "Skolnik" or "School Janitor" who invites students for timely purchase of school supplies like rulers, notebooks, pens...
It should be mentioned that supply in the former Czechoslovakia was not always ideal, and state advertising campaigns invited people to buy at a time when goods were plentiful.
At other times, otherwise necessary goods were not or did not have to be in the store and were difficult to find. Alternatively, it could only be obtained on the black market or in stores with western and luxury goods named Tuzex.
