This is a fast f/2.2 55mm lens. Glass is unscratched & unmarked. Aperture action clicks positively and overall condition is very good.  No mould, fungus, or oil. Pictures are well saturated with rich colours, crisp focus, and beautiful bokeh. Excellent All-round  lens. Wide open the lens will give you bubbly bokeh and this is what this lens is renown for. The sweet spot of the lens for maximum sharpness is achieved between f5.6 / f8.

It can be fitted to almost any Digital SLR camera with a suitable M42 adapter. ADAPTER IS NOT INCLUDED ON THIS SALE. LISTING IS ONLY FOR THE LENS WITHOUT THE ADAPTER. M42 Adapters are available cheaply on eBay for all digital SLRs including NIKON, SONY ALPHAS AND NEX, PENTAX, PANASONIC, FUJI and OLYMPUS Mirrorless Micro four thirds cameras, to name a just a few brands.. Try searching "M42 to canon" or "M42 to nikon" or "M42 to the camera brand that you own".

On digital cameras you can shoot in aperture priority or manual mode, depending on your confidence and your camera features, focusing at the widest aperture and then taking the shot there or at the desired aperture setting.

When used on APS-C (crop factor) digital cameras, this lens becomes a nice portrait lens, as it is effectively an 88mm on Canon's and a 82mm on other APS-C cameras.

The lens is an AUTO lens, it does not have a manual/auto switch. Auto operation was used on film cameras, as those cameras where pressing the pin from the rear of the lens to change the aperture before taking the picture. When used on digital cameras, the adapter used keeps the pin depressed so that the lens is effectively a manual lens. Please check compatibility of adapters as some adapters do not keep the rear pin depressed. Please make sure to send me a question if in doubt.

Fujinon lenses also come with a protruding tab on the rear which do not allow to focus to infinity when used on digital cameras. The way around this is file down that tab, and for your convenience this lens has enjoyed that job and is ready to use on dslr via an adapter.

For sample pictures, please go to the flickr website and type in "bubble bokeh fujinon 55mm f2.2".

Lens performance sharpens as you close down the aperture, as it is often the case with most lenses, where you find the sharpest point or sweet spot of the lens, 2 stops from wide open. For portraits you can use the lens wide open @f2 for the maximum bubble effect on the background.  My preferred setting for portraits is to use it half stop from wide open, at f2.8, where you still get a nice soft background but also already a nice sharpening on your subject.

As with most vintage lenses, glass coatings may not be as advanced compared to modern lenses, but using a cheap or sometimes improvised diy lens hood will minimize flares and keep your contrast high at all times. If you plan to buy a lens hood, you can buy any 49mm screw in hood.

There are sharper vintage lenses than this one, but those can not beat this one in terms of bubble bokeh, and this Fujinon lens is even sharper that the renown and more expensive "Meyer Trioplan". If you are looking for soap bubble bokeh, you'll get it, that's a fact.

As normal with used lenses, there might be some insignificant speckles of dust inside which do not affect in any way the lovely pictures it takes.

If you are a "Canon" user and require the adapter, I could supply you one for £5 (Please send me a message before buying the item)

Supplied with no caps but well protected for transit.
